Vanilla Dishcloth Knitting Pattern
If you're looking for a truly quick and simple knitting project for the next couple of hours, look no more! This dishcloth is super easy to knit and will make a lovely home decor piece for your kitchen, or a thoughtful gift to an eco-conscious friend! Using less than a skein of worsted weight yarn(or any other weight, honestly!), it's a great way to use up those leftover partial skeins.

sizes
One size - width 35 cm (14”), length 43 cm (17”)
supplies
yarn
For this dishcloth I used the same yarn as for the towel - Drops Paris in colorway off-white (17), which is one of my favorite cotton yarns for home decor pieces!
If you'd like to knit it in a different yarn - you can choose any similar worsted weight (category 4 - medium) cotton yarn - a few options are:
Yardage: approx. 40 m (45 yds).
needles
5 mm (US 8) straight or circular needles, or to fit gauge
other notions
Tapestry needle and scissors.
gauge
18 stitches x 28 rows in 10x10 cm (4x4”) in garter stitch, blocked
pattern notes
Video tutorials for specific techniques are linked and showing as yellow.
As the dishcloth is not a wearable item, gauge is not critical in this project - however if you can’t match the gauge listed, the dishcloth will differ in dimensions and it may affect the yardage needed.
You can knit this dishcloth easily in different yarn weight than listed in the pattern - in this case please be aware that the yardage will be different than listed. Choose your preferred yarn (cotton or linen yarn is recommended) and matching knitting needles, then follow the directions in the pattern that refer to dimensions rather than stitch count. You can also knit the dishcloth to your preferred dimensions in similar way.
removing hanging loop
IIf you'd like to knit the dishcloth without a hanging loop, you can modify the pattern in the finishing section as follows: omit the hanging loop section and bind off all sts before finishing.
Bind off both sts and sew the end of the cord to the back of the tea towel corner to create the hanging loop.
Note that adding the loop will increase the yardage by approx. 5 m (5 yds).
Stitch changes and row totals are noted in italic.
