Video tutorials for specific techniques are linked and showing as yellow.
The soap bag is worked in the round - due to its small circumference, you'll need to use either long circular needles and magic loop technique, or work on DPNs to knit this piece.
The bag is worked from the top (the opening) down, and is closed at the bottom using grafting technique. As a last step, the string is created and woven through the eyelets at the border.
Round totals are noted in italic.
instructions
border
Cast on 32 sts using Long Tail Cast On, or another cast on technique of your choice and join to
work in the round, placing a beginning of rnd marker if needed..
Work Rnds 1-2 once.
Rnd 1: k until end of rnd.
Rnd 2: p until end of rnd.
Next, work Rnd 3 once.
Rnd 3: *k1, k2tog, yo, k1* until end of rnd.
To finish the border, work Rnd 2, then Rnd 1.
5 rnds worked in total.
Main area
Work Rnds 1 - 4 a total of seven times, then work Rnds 1 - 3 once more. 31 rnds worked in total.
Rnd 1: *k1, p1* until end of rnd.
Rnd 2: *k1, p1* until end of rnd.
Rnd 3: p until end of rnd.
Rnd 4: k until end of rnd.
Finishing
Divide the sts in half between two needles. Next, break yarn leaving a 30 cm (12") tail, then graft the sts together to close the soap saver.
To create the string, measure two pieces of yarn of length 45 cm (18") each. Place the pieces next to each other and tie them together at both ends. Thread the string through the eyelets in the border section. Weave in ends and block to
dimensions.
