Fitting head circumferences: 51 - 55 (56 - 60) cm / 20.5 - 22 (22.5 - 24)"
Hat length (brim folded): 21 (22) cm / 8.5 (9)"
Hat length (brim unfolded): 28 (29) cm / 11 (11.5)"
To measure your head, use a tape measure - the tape should sit over the middle of your forehead, just above your ears and midway at the back of your head.
If you're knitting the beanie as a gift and have no way of determining the exact circumference, you can assume that size S will fit teens & adult women, while size L will fit men.
supplies you’ll need
yarn
140 (160) m / 150 (175) yds of Peruvian Highland Wool, Filcolana, 100% wool, 100 m (109 yds) per 50 g, or similar light worsted weight (category 4 - medium) yarn. Sample worked in colorway 345 (Rosewood).
needles & NOTIONS
needles: 5 mm (US 8) 80 - 100 cm (32 - 40"), or to fit gauge if working magic loop method, or 40 cm (16") circular needles and DPN set.

other: faux fur pom or additional yarn for a pom
